m1.6 screws wanted!
« on: 11 September, 2008, 09:43:31 AM »
Hi,

Does anyone have any spare m1.6 screws laying about.  The only place I could find sofar on the net only supplies in quantities of 1000 (I only need 4!)

Cheers,

J

Have you considered looking for a local fasteners supplier?

I can see 5 stainless steel for 1 or 50 for 8 - first hit on UK google search (www.modelfixings.co.uk - minimum order 3 + P&P) else where non-stainless 50 for 2.48

In York we have a company called Fastpack, I usually drop in there for things like this. They are happy for people to buy a few at a time gives me a price in pence.

best regards,
Colin

You can also try 10BA screws as an alternative. The thread pitch is the same and the diameter is 1.7mm rather than 1.6mm.

Most of the time, these work for me and, since the UK has not exactly embraced metrication, 10BA is commonly available from model engineering suppliers.

It is possible they won't fit though.

Thanks for your replies,  I was after slotted pan head machine screws as the space is rather limited where I need to mount the motor.  The head size on the Hex version is to large for my actual needs, however, googling further and I have found some.

I found this site last week and recieved the screws within two days so the service is good and the prices not bad either.

Hey! Good find.

I shall have to get an order in.

Now all they need is a decent web site.
